Plan your Grand Canyon Tour by Airplane today!

One of the many nice things about Grand Canyon tours by airplane, you don't have to carry a heavy backpack stuffed with survival gear. But there are a few important items that will help you make the most of your time in this wondrous place. Here are five tips to consider when packing for your trip.

  • Dress up. Wear clothing suited to the season. In the summer months, you'll want to have on cool, loose-fitting, light-colored attire. Consider moisture-wicking apparel like that worn by runners and bikers. During the spring and fall months, layering is the key, as temperatures can plummet with little notice. Wear a long-sleeved shirt and bring along a light sweater or jacket, too. In the winter months, put on a warm coat, scarf and gloves. Year round, you'll find that long pants are always a good idea. They protect your legs from sunburns and chills, prickly bushes, bugs and snakes if you decide to explore the trails.
  • The shoe should fit. You'll want comfortable, worn-in shoes that are good for walking. Closed-toe footwear is highly advised because sandals are not adequate on trails or uneven terrain. Try to avoid sporting brand new shoes. You don't want to head home with blisters!
  • Go on H2O overdrive. Although you'll receive complimentary water during your tour, you can never have enough, especially in summer when dehydration is a serious risk. Drinking at least 1 gallon (4 liters) during an active day is highly recommended. An insulated water bottle, especially one that's filled with ice, will keep your water refreshingly cool.
  • Carry sunscreen and use it. Buy sunscreen and lip balm with an SPF of at least 30. Be sure to reapply both regularly if you're sweating. Wearing a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses is also a good idea.
  • That's the picture! You can't go to one of the world's seven natural wonders without a camera. Consider bringing along a variety of lenses as weather conditions and perspectives can change quickly at the Grand Canyon. In fact, bring extra batteries, and memory cards, so you don't miss out on the photo of a lifetime.
